Last night I got the carbs off and started taking them apart. I also put the battery on a charger, even though Gus told me it was dead. An optimist, that's me.
Today I finished taking the carbs apart, cleaned them up and put them back together again.
I reassembled the bike, changed the oil, installed a filter and drained the gas tank.
Then I installed the battery, poured in a gallon of gas and pressed the starter button.
Okay, I didn't really press the starter button, as it's missing, so I stuck a screwdriver in the hole and hot wired it.
It cranked over a few times and then fired right up! Whoo-hoo!
I let it idle a minute then took off down the alley. Around the block and look at it go!
After it warmed up a bit, it idled fine with no choke.
I think we have a runner here!
Still need to do a few more things:
- Change the brake fluid
- Adjust the steering head bearings
- Look at the fork seals - they might be leaking
- Wash the bike
- Change the shaft drive oil
Other than waiting for the duplicate title to arrive, I'm good to go!
